#3 · Aug 31, 2008 You can't apply EX decoding to 2-channel material, only to 5.1-channel sources. On 7.1-speaker set-ups, PLII x will give better results since it runs the 2 rear speakers in stereo. EX sends the same signal to both rear speakers. Stereo rears make for smoother pans and more precise directionality in the surround field.
